Shiatsu has been around since 1925, it draws on the underlying principles of acupuncture, which itself has been practised since 154 BC. You might say that Shiatsu is a new take on a very old and well-regarded field of healing.
Shiatsu is a massage treatment for the whole body, the practitioner uses finger pressure on meridian points – these are based on Chinese Acupuncture theory. There are many different types of Shiatsu and the one I specialise in Body Energy Balance Shiatsu.
I was trained using ‘The Foundations of Chinese Medicine’ by Giovanni Maciocia, which is a ‘Comprehensive text for Acupuncturists and Herbalists’.
The work I do is so much more than just touch therapy. Using the Chinese five Element Theory, the body’s energy field, my client’s guides and my spiritual guides, huge positive change can be brought about in the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies.
